Supply balance sheets of agricultural products, 2022
High level of self-sufficiency with honey
In 2022, 134 kg of fruit, 116 kg of cereals, 105 kg of vegetables, 87 kg of meat, 72 kg of potatoes, 11 kg of eggs, 5 kg of rice and 1 kg of honey were available to a resident of Slovenia for consumption. There has been a revision of data in the supply balance sheet for main oilseeds.
Larger domestic production of honey and fruit
Due to favourable weather conditions, domestic honey production reached 2,400 tonnes in 2022, which is 12 times as much as in the previous year (200 tonnes). Much larger production was also recorded in the case of fruit. Fruit production reached 93,000 tonnes, which was almost three times as much as a year earlier (34,000 tonnes).
Levels of self-sufficiency with honey and fruit significantly higher than in the previous year
Compared to 2021, self-sufficiency rates were higher for almost all animal balances, except for eggs, while for plant balances, the self-sufficiency rate was higher only for fruit. The self-sufficiency rate for meat increased by 1 percentage point (to 86%), and for honey by 75 percentage points (to 90%), while for eggs it decreased by 3 percentage points (to 94%). As regards plant balances, the self-sufficiency rate for fruit increased by 15 percentage points (to 29%), while for potatoes it decreased by 8 percentage points (to 36%), for vegetables by 4 percentage points (to 39%) and for cereals by 12 percentage points (to 72%).

In the supply balance sheet for main oilseeds, there was a revision of data in the entire series for the items available/consumed and stocks.
Tables with the latest data on supply balance sheets for the calendar year are available in the SiStat Database.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
The balance of oilseeds is classified under experimental statistics, as we are still refining the data sources. We are also still introducing some methodological changes with which we will adapt to the requirements of Regulation (EU) no. 2022/2379 on statistics of agricultural inputs and output. Therefore, we expect further data revisions in the future as well.
