Population increase in the first quarter
In the first quarter of this year, the population increased by more than 700. On 1 April 2023, foreign citizens represented 9.1% of the 2,117,674 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 April 2023, Slovenia had 702 residents more than three months earlier. In the first quarter, the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by more than 2,100, while the number of foreign citizens increased by more than 2,800.
Slightly lower share of women among foreign citizens
The population of Slovenia consisted of 1,064,491 men and 1,053,183 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1% (this share has been slowly decreasing for a number of years) and among foreign citizens 36.5% (after nearly three years of increase, this time their share went down).
