Pesticides sale, 2022
847 tonnes of active substances in plant protection products sold in Slovenia in 2022
According to chemical class, most of the active substances sold in Slovenia in 2022 were in inorganic fungicides (402 tonnes), followed by other fungicides and bactericides (184 tonnes), other herbicides (100 tonnes) and phthalimide-based fungicides (112 tonnes).
Amount of active substances in plant protection products around 9% lower than in the previous year
About 847 tonnes of active substances in plant protection products were sold in 2022, which is about 9% less than a year before. Total sales were lower than the five-year average (988 tonnes) by about 14%. In the last ten years this was the lowest amount on record.
Compared to the year before, the amount of active substances decreased in five main groups of plant protection products, namely in the group of fungicides and bactericides by around 6%, in the group of herbicides by around 14%, in the group of insecticides and acaricides by around 20%, in the group of molluscicides by 49% and in the group of plant regulators by around 55%. In the group of other plant protection products (rodenticides, oils, soil sterilisation compounds), an increase in sales of around 60% was recorded.
In line with the long-term trend, most active substances in fungicides (628 tonnes)
In total, 628 tonnes of active substances in fungicides were sold in 2022. Major contributors were inorganic sulphur at 336 tonnes, phthalimide fungicides at 112 tonnes and copper compound fungicides at 37 tonnes.
In addition, 166 tonnes of active substances in herbicides were sold in Slovenia in 2022. Organophosphorus herbicides was the largest group with 68 tonnes of total amount sold. There were 39 tonnes of active substances in insecticides, and the largest share (26 tonnes) was represented by the group of herbicides based on chloroacetanilides. Finally, molluscicides (1 tonne), plant growth regulators (6 tonnes) and other plant protection products (6 tonnes) are groups that were the least represented among all pesticide groups.
