More deaths than births in April, but the smallest difference this year
According to provisional data for April 2023 the natural decrease was recorded. 1% fewer children were born and 10% fewer people died than a year before.
Fewer live births
In the fourth month of this year, 1,268 children were born in Slovenia, which was 15 or 1% fewer than in April 2022. On average 42 children were born per day.
Fewer deaths
In the observed month, 1,639 residents of Slovenia died. This was 192 (10%) fewer than in April 2022 and 168 (9%) fewer than in April 2021. On average 55 people died each day (61 in April 2022).
What do data for May 2023 indicate?
According to the first estimate, 1,123 residents of Slovenia died between 1 and 21 May 2023. In the same period of last year, this number was higher (1,177 residents).
