Import prices lower than in the previous month
In April 2023 import prices were 1.2% lower than in the previous month and 0.6% higher than a year ago. On a monthly basis, we recorded the most noticeable decrease in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (11.4%).
At the monthly level, prices decreased the most in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning
Compared to March, in April import prices were 1.2% lower. At the monthly level, the prices of products supplied from the euro area were lower by 0.9%, the prices of products imported from the non-euro by 1.6%.
Compared to March, energy prices decreased by 5.0%, intermediate goods prices by 1.9%, consumer goods prices by 0.3%, while capital goods prices were unchanged.
The highest decrease in April was observed in the group Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (11.4%).
At the annual level coal and lignite increased the most
From April 2022 to April 2023 import prices increased by 0.6%. In the same period the prices of products supplied from the euro area went up by 0.6% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 0.5%.
The prices of imports increased the most in the section mining and quarrying (by 15.8%), among which the highest increase was recorded in the group coal and lignite (98.2%). The prices decreased in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 43.8%).
