Average earnings slightly lower than earnings for December 2022
Average gross earnings for January 2023 amounted to EUR 2,144.72 and were lower than earnings for December 2022 in nominal terms by 0.7% and in real terms by 0.9%.

Average gross earnings for January 2023 amounted to EUR 2,144.72. Compared to earnings for December 2022, they were lower in nominal terms by 0.7% and in real terms by 0.9%. Average net earnings amounted to EUR 1,399.03. Compared to earnings for December 2022, they were lower in nominal terms by 1.4% and in real terms by 1.6%.
Compared to earnings for January of the previous year, they were higher: in nominal terms gross earnings by 11.5% (and in real terms by 1.4%) and net earnings by 13.2% (and in real terms by 2.9%).
Earnings slightly lower in both sectors, private and public
Compared to earnings for December 2022, average gross earnings were lower in the private sector by 0.8% and in the public sector by 0.5%. In the institutional sector general government, which is a part of the public sector, they were slightly higher than earnings for December 2022 (by 0.6%).
Gross earnings the highest in financial and insurance activities
Average gross earnings were the highest in financial and insurance activities (EUR 3,053.79), followed by earnings in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (EUR 3,044.09). They were the lowest in administrative and support service activities (EUR 1,528.96).
