Construction costs for new residential buildings higher than in the previous quarter and previous year

In the fourth quarter of 2022, construction costs for new residential buildings were higher than in the previous quarter as well as in the same quarter a year ago.

Construction costs for new residential buildings increased … 

In the fourth quarter of 2022, they were 4.0% higher than in the previous quarter and 17.2% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2021. Compared to 2021, in 2022 they were 14.4% higher. 

… as did construction material costs …

Construction material costs increased for the ninth quarter in a row. They were 1.4% higher than in the previous quarter. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, they increased by 17.8%. Compared to 2021, in 2022 they were 21.7% higher. 

… and labour costs 

Labour costs were 7.1% higher than in the previous quarter. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, they increased by 16.6%. Compared to 2021, in 2022 they were 7.3% higher.
