Confidence in manufacturing and services stable

The value of the confidence indicator decreased at the monthly level in retail trade and construction, while in services and manufacturing it remained unchanged.

Confidence in manufacturing the same

The confidence indicator was the same as in the previous month. Compared to May 2022 and the long-term average, it was lower by 11 percentage points (p.p.) and 9 p.p., respectively.

The confidence indicator was the same due to the higher expected production indicator (by 4 p.p.) and deterioration stock of finished products and lower overall orders books indicators (by 3 p.p., each).

… in retail trade lower …

The confidence indicator decreased by 4 p.p. Compared to the previous May, it was 14 p.p. lower and 1 p.p. higher than the long-term average.

The value of the confidence indicator decreased mainly due to the sales indicator, which decreased by 12 p.p. at the monthly level.

… in construction also lower …

The confidence indicator was 3 p.p. lower than in the previous month and 12 p.p. lower than a year ago. However, it was 21 p.p. above the long-term average.

The monthly decrease was influenced by both confidence indicators – the overall order books and the employment expectations indicators (the former was lower by 4 p.p. and the latter by 2 p.p.).

… and in services stable

The confidence indicator remained the same at the monthly level, but at the annual level, it was lower by 1 p.p. Compared to the long-term average, it was 7 p.p. higher.

The expected demand indicator went up by 7 p.p., the demand indicator went down by 7 p.p., while the business situation indicator, as the third component of the confidence indicator, went up by 1 p.p.
