Consumer sentiment slightly up
The consumer confidence indicator improved at the monthly level by 1 percentage point.
Consumer sentiment slightly higher than a month ago
The value of the consumer confidence indicator increased by 1 percentage point (p.p.) compared to August, but was 11 percentage points (p.p.) below the long-term average.
Among its components, consumers’ expectations for major purchases and about the country’s economy increased (by 4 and 1 p.p., respectively). On the other hand, the indicators current households’ finances and expectations about households’ finances deteriorated (by 2 and 1 p.p., respectively).
Improvement at the annual level
The value of the consumer confidence indicator was 7 p.p. higher than in September 2022.
The annual increase in the value of the confidence indicator resulted from more optimistic consumer expectations about households’ finances (by 13 p.p.), about the country’s economy (by 8 p.p.), and about major purchases (also by 8 p.p.). Only opinions on current households’ finances deteriorated (by 2 p.p.).

The data are based on the Consumer Survey, which was answered by 830 persons between 1 and 17 September 2023.
