In 2022, growth of producer prices higher than the year before
In December, producer prices increased by almost a fifth at the annual and by 0.2% at the monthly level. Compared to a year ago, prices increased in nearly all activities.
Annual increase the highest in electricity
In one year, producer prices grew by 19.3% (in 2021 by 10.6%). The prices of products for sale on the domestic market increased by 23.3% and on non-domestic markets by 15.3%. Of those, the prices of products for sale on the markets of euro area countries went up by 15.4% and of non-euro area countries by 15.1%.
The prices of energy went up by 79.0%, of intermediate goods by 19.4%, of consumer goods by 14.3% and of capital goods by 10.2%.
Prices increased the most in electricity (by 101.2%), followed by manufacture of coke and petroleum products (by 44.0%), manufacture of paper and paper products (by 36.6%) and printing and reproduction of recorded media (by 27.3%). Prices decreased only in manufacture of other transport equipment (by 2.9%).
Monthly increase the highest in manufacture of beverages
Producer prices increased by 0.2% compared to the month before. The prices of products for sale on the domestic market increased by 0.5%, while those on non-domestic markets remained the same. Of the latter, the prices of products for sale on the markets of non-euro area countries went down by 0.1% and of euro area countries remained the same.
The prices of energy increased by 1.1%, of consumer goods by 0.7% and of capital goods by 0.3%. Intermediate goods prices decreased by 0.1%.
Prices increased the most in manufacture of beverages (by 8.3%), followed by manufacture of wearing apparel (by 3.8%) and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 2.2%). On the other hand, prices decreased the most in manufacture of basic metals (by 1.4%), followed by manufacture of wood, products of wood and cork (by 1.2%).
