The largest share of tourist overnight stays in health (spa) resorts
Foreign tourists generated 360,700 overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments in Slovenia, which is about 75,000 more than the number of overnight stays by domestic tourists. In total, a tenth fewer overnight stays were generated than a year earlier, most of them in Ljubljana and Piran.
In the eleventh month of 2022, 646,500 tourist overnight stays
In tourist accommodation establishments in November tourists generated 241,700 arrivals. Domestic tourists generated approximately 102,800 arrivals and 285,800 overnight stays (or 44% of all), which is 43% fewer than in November last year. Foreign tourists generated approximately 138,900 arrivals and 360,700 overnight stays (65% more than in November 2021).
The largest share of foreign overnight stays generated by tourists from Austria
Tourists from Austria generated the largest share of foreign overnight stays (46,700 or 13% of all foreign overnight stays). They were followed by tourists from Italy (12%), Croatia (11%), Serbia (9%) and Germany (7%).
The most visited municipality was Ljubljana
As regards the types of municipalities, the largest share of tourist overnight stays was recorded in health (spa) resorts (34%), the most in municipality Moravske Toplice. They were followed by Ljubljana (18%), seaside resorts (16%) and mountain resorts (12%).
Domestic tourists mostly spent the nights in the municipalities of Piran, Moravske Toplice and Brežice. Foreign tourists mostly stayed in the municipalities of Ljubljana, Maribor and Piran.
Most overnight stays in hotels
Domestic and foreign tourists generated the most overnight stays in hotels (387,200 stays or 60% of all overnight stays and 5% fewer than a year ago), followed by private accommodations – rented rooms, dwellings (13% of all overnight stays or 34% fewer than a year ago).
Almost 14.9 million tourist overnight stays in the first eleven months of the year
From the beginning of January to the end of November, around 5.6 million tourists visited Slovenia. They generated almost 14.9 million overnight stays, 42% more than in the same period last year.
Domestic tourists generated 5.2 million overnight stays or 35% of all overnight stays so far, while foreign tourists generated 9.6 million or 65% of all.
