Population increase in 1st half of the year
In the 1st half of 2022 the population increased by more than 1,500. On 1 July, there were 8.5% foreign citizens among the 2.108.732 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 July 2022 Slovenia had 1,552 residents more than six months earlier. In the 1st half of the year the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by 4,300, while the number of foreign citizens increased by 5,800.
Increased share of women among foreign citizens
On 1 July 2022, the population of Slovenia consisted of 1,059,168 men and 1,049,564 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1% (this share has been slowly decreasing for a number of years) and among foreign citizens 35.7% (after more than two years of decrease, their share has been increasing since 1 April 2020).
