As an invitation, we highlight some interesting data:

... about the average age of owners-managers:

In 2020, owners-managers of family farms in Slovenia were on average 58 years old. Fewer than a quarter of them (23%) were women. Female owners-managers were on average two years older than male owners-managers. On average, owners-managers were the youngest in the Koroška statistical region (56 years) and the oldest in the Posavska, Goriška and Obalno-Kraška statistical regions (61 years).

... about animal housing:

In 2020, dairy cows in Slovenia had the largest number of guaranteed places in stables in tied stalls (solid manure) (36%), followed by places where dairy cows were free and a slurry system was used (34%), barns with a slurry system where dairy cows were tied in the barns (23%), and the fewest places were for dairy cows that were in barns with bedding (manure system - also deep bedding) and in which the livestock was free (7%).
Data on labour force and other gainful activities as well as data on animal housing and manure management for 2020 refer to agricultural holdings that meet the thresholds set out in Annex II of EU Regulation 2018/1091 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 July 2018 on integrated farm statistics and repealing Regulations (EC) No 1166/2008 and (EU) No 1337/2011 (CELEX No. 32018R1091). This threshold is different from the one in force until 2020, so the data on the labour force are not comparable with the data from previous surveys. In addition, the data on animal housing and manure management are representative for agricultural holdings that raise at least one of the listed types of animals: cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry.

Additional explanations are available in the methodological explanations.

SURS has been disseminating the data as of 1 January 2015 on according to the changed cohesion and statistical regions. These changes are in line with the NUTS Regulation (EC) No. 1319/2013 and are explained in a Special Release published in December 2013.

First provisional data of the 2020 Agricultural Census were published in March 2021, and second provisional data in October 2021.

Final data of the 2020 Agricultural Census were published in March 2022, while final data regarding the typology of agricultural holdings are expected to be published by the end of 2022.

The Agricultural Census is co-financed by the European Union, which is also determined by Regulation (EU) No 2018/1091 on integrated farm statistics and repealing Regulations (EC) No 1166/2008 and (EU) No 1337/2011.
