Population decrease in 1st quarter
In the 1st quarter the population decreased by almost 1,000. On 1 April, there were 8.3% foreign citizens among the 2.106.215 residents of Slovenia.
Fewer citizens of Slovenia, more foreign citizens
On 1 April 2022 Slovenia had 965 residents fewer than three months earlier. In the 1st quarter the number of citizens of Slovenia decreased by 2,900, while the number of foreign citizens increased by 1,900.
Increased share of women among foreign citizens
On 1 April 2022, the population of Slovenia consisted of 1,057,473 men and 1,048,742 women. The share of women among citizens of Slovenia was 51.1% (this share has been slowly decreasing for a number of years) and among foreign citizens 35.6% (after more than two years of decrease, their share has been increasing since 1 April 2020).
