Goods import by road goods vehicles up

Road goods vehicles carried more goods than in the 1st quarter of 2021 and performed more tonne-kilometres. The share of goods carried within Slovenia increased to 58%. In international transport Slovenian goods vehicle carried most goods in cross-trade and cabotage.

More tonne-kilometres performed

Road goods motor vehicles registered in Slovenia carried 24.5 million tonnes of goods, performed 6.3 billion tonne-kilometres and travelled 395.7 million kilometres by loaded vehicles. In comparison with the 1st quarter of 2021, 3% more goods were carried, 7% more tonne-kilometres were performed and 6% more kilometres were travelled loaded. This annual increase is comparable with the quarterly increase in goods carried, whereas the tonne-kilometres performed remained at the same level.

More goods carried in both national and international transport

In national transport 14.4 million tonnes of goods were carried, 595.9 million tonne-kilometres were performed and 53.1 million kilometres were travelled by loaded vehicles. National transport represented 59% of total goods carried. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2021, this was 4% more goods carried, 3% more tonne-kilometres performed and 1% more kilometres travelled.

In international transport 10.1 million tonnes of goods were carried, 5.7 billion tonne-kilometres were performed and 342.6 million kilometres were travelled by loaded vehicles. International transport represented 41% of total goods carried. In comparison with the same period of the previous year, 2% more goods were carried, 7% more tonne-kilometres were performed, and 7% more kilometres were travelled. Import by Slovenian goods vehicles was 10% higher and export 5% lower than a year before.

Legal persons carried more goods, natural persons fewer goods

Legal persons carried 18.6 million tonnes or three quarters of all goods and performed 5.2 billion or 83% of all tonne-kilometres. Natural persons carried 5.9 million tonnes or one quarter of all goods and performed 1.1 billion or 17% of all tonne-kilometres. In comparison with the 1st quarter of 2021, legal persons carried 4% more goods and performed 10% more tonne-kilometres, while natural persons carried 2% fewer goods and performed 6% fewer tonne-kilometres.
