More passengers carried by in interurban public scheduled transport
In 2021, fewer passengers were carried by buses in urban and international public scheduled transport, while in interurban the number of passengers increased compared to the previous year.
Fewer passengers in urban public scheduled transport
24 million passengers were carried by buses in urban public scheduled transport. The number of passengers was 4% lower than in 2020. Buses operated on 157 urban routes, with the total distance of 1,925 km in one direction of the line. They used 4,7 milion of diesel fuel, 2,722 tones of CNG and 6,944 kilowatt hours for electric buses.
Substantially more passengers in interurban public scheduled transport
15 million passengers were carried by buses in interurban public scheduled transport, i.e. 13% more than in 2020. Buses operated on 1,904 interurban routes with the total distance of 72,288 km in one direction of the line.
They drove almost 49 million kilometres of scheduled routes and used about 14,4 milion litres of diesel fuel.
Fewer passengers in international public scheduled transport
About 26,000 passengers were carried by buses in international public scheduled transport, i.e. 43% fewer than in 2020. Buses operated on 19 international routes, some of them seasonal. They travelled 304,000 kilometres and used about 42,000 litres of diesel fuel.
