Annual decrease in the labour costs the highest in human health and social work activities
The labour costs per hour worked increased at the annual level in most activities, the most in agriculture, forestry and fishing. In total, they were slightly higher than a year ago.
Labour costs up
In the first quarter of 2022, the labour costs per hour worked in Slovenia increased on average by 0.8% over the first quarter of 2021. In the same period, earnings per hour worked also increased by 0.8% and other labour costs per hour worked by 1.3%.
The labour costs per hour worked went up the most in agriculture, forestry and fishing (by 12.5%), followed by administrative and support service activities (by 8.1%). They went down the most in human health and social work activities (by 17.0%); such a large decrease was among other things the result of payments of allowances related to the COVID-19 epidemic a year ago.
Except in Greece, in the fourth quarter of 2021, the labour costs in all EU-27 Member States higher
According to Eurostat data, compared to the fourth quarter of 2020, in the fourth quarter of 2021 the labour costs per hour worked (agriculture, forestry and fishing excluded) increased in all EU-27 Member States, except in Greece, where they decreased by 3.1%. They increased the most in Lithuania (by 15.1%), followed by Bulgaria (by 11.9%). In the same comparison, the labour costs per hour worked in the EU-27 increased by 2.1% and in Slovenia by 4.9%.
