In 2021, energy dependency of Slovenia was 2 percentage points higher than in the previous year

Domestic energy resources covered 53% of domestic energy needs; the petroleum products were fully supplied from imports.

More than half of the energy demand was met with domestic energy resources

Total amount of domestic energy sources in Slovenia in 2021 was 3.3 million toe (=140 PJ), which is by 9% less than in 2020. 

In 2021, Slovenia met 53% of domestic energy demand with domestic energy resources, the rest of the energy was supplied from imports. The entire quantity of petroleum products was imported.

Petroleum products prevailed in the energy supply

Total primary energy supply of Slovenia in 2021 was 6.4 million toe (=267 PJ), which is by 0,2% more than in 2020.

In the structure of supplied energy in 2021, petroleum products prevailed with 31%, followed by nuclear energy with 23%, renewable energy sources (including hydro energy) with 19%, coal with 15% and natural gas with 12%.
