Agricultural input price indices, March 2022
Agricultural input prices continues to grow
In March 2022, the agricultural input prices were on average 5.6% higher than in February 2022, while in the first quarter of 2022 they were 6.2% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2021. At the monthly level again the highest price increases were recorded in the group fertilizers.
Considerably monthly price increase
On average, in March 2022 the agricultural input prices were at the monthly level 5.6% higher. Prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture increased on average by 7.5% and prices contributing to agricultural investment by 1.2%.
The second successive month the highest price increase was recorded at fertilizers (this time on average by 16.2%). Prices of nitrogenous fertilizers increased in March 2022 on average by 20.1% and prices of NPK-fertilizers by 12.5%, while prices of phosphatic and PK-fertilizers remained the same as in the previous month.
Animal feedingstuffs were up in March 2022 on average by 9.5%. Prices of straight feedingstuffs increased by 28.3% and prices of compound feedingstuffs by 7.0%.
Prices of materials remained on average the same as in the previous month, while prices of buildings increased on average by 4.4%.
Prices at the annual level even more higher
In March 2022 the agricultural input prices were on average 25.0% higher than a year ago (in February 2022 by 20.1%), where the prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture increased by 31.5% and the prices of goods and services contributing to agricultural investment by 11.7%.
In one year the prices of fertilizers went up the most (two and a half times higher than a year ago), followed by prices of animal feedingstuffs (by 26.7%) and prices of energy and lubricants (by 23.4%).
Price increase also at the quarterly level
In the first quarter of 2022 agricultural input prices were on average 6.2% higher than in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 22.2% higher than in the first quarter of 2021.
Compared to the previous quarter, in the first quarter of 2022 the highest price increase was recorded at fertilisers (on average by 15.4%) and at animal feedingstuffs (on average by 6.3%).
