Average earnings lower than earnings for the previous month
Compared to earnings for December 2021, average gross earnings for January 2022 were lower, in nominal terms by 6.8% and in real terms by 7.2%. Such a large decrease was mostly due to lower extra payments.

Average gross earnings for January 2022 amounted to EUR 1,923.92. Compared to earnings for the previous month, they were lower in nominal terms by 6.8% and in real terms by 7.2%. Average net earnings, which amounted to EUR 1,236.33, were also lower than earnings for the previous month (in nominal terms by 7.5%, in real terms by 7.9%).
Average earnings lower in both sectors, private and public
Compared to earnings for the previous month, average gross earnings for January 2022 decreased in both sectors, in the private sector by 7.6% and in the public sector by 5.2% (in the institutional sector general government they were lower by 3.2%).
Average earnings the highest in financial and insurance activities
An overview by activities shows that compared to the previous month average gross earnings were lower in all activities; they decreased the most in mining and quarrying (by 30.3%; mainly because there were no extra payments) and the least in education (by 1.5%).
Average gross earnings were the highest in financial and insurance activities (EUR 2,731.90).
