Consumer confidence deteriorated in June

The value of the consumer confidence indicator lower at the monthly and at the annual level.

Consumer confidence lower at the monthly level …

In June, the value of the consumer confidence indicator decreased by 2 percentage points (p.p.) at the monthly level.

The monthly decrease in the confidence indicator resulted from more pessimistic consumer expectations about households’ finances (by 4 p.p.), opinions on current households’ finances (by 3 p.p.), and expectations about the country’s economy (by 2 p.p.). The indicator of consumer expectations about major purchases was at the level of the previous month.

… as well as the annual level

Compared to last June, the value of the consumer confidence indicator was 16 p.p. lower. It was also 11 p.p. lower than last year’s average.

All four components of the consumer confidence indicator deteriorated at the annual level: expectations about households’ finances by 26 p.p., expectations about the country’s economy by 22 p.p., expectations for major purchases by 9 p.p., and current households’ finances by 8 p.p.

The data are based on the Consumer Survey, which was answered by 817 persons between 1 and 15 June 2022.
