More live births than in November 2020
According to provisional data for November 2021, 1,474 children were born (72 or 5% more than in November 2020). On average 49 children were born per day (47 in November 2020).
Fewer deaths than in November 2020
According to provisional data for November 2021, 2,415 people died. This is 683 (22%) fewer than in November 2020 and 437 (22%) more than in October 2021. On average 81 people died each day in November 2021 (103 people per day died on average in November 2020).
Excess mortality 49%
Excess mortality (i.e. excess number of deaths compared to the average number of deaths in the same periods in the past) in November 2021 was 49.4%. This means that 49.4% more people died in November 2021 than on an average in November in the 2015–2019 period.
Excess mortality of the population aged 75 or more 54%
1,625 people aged 75 or more died in Slovenia in November 2021 (67% of all deaths). The number of deceased in November 2021 at that age was 54% higher than the average number of deceased of the same age in 2015–2019.
What do data for December 2021 show us?
According to the first estimate, 1,422 people died between 1 and 19 December 2021. In the same period of 2020, 2,097 people died.
Provisional data for December 2021 will be published on 7 February 2022.

Eurostat continuously publishes provisional data on the number of deaths by weeks by countries. Slovenia provides provisional data monthly.
