Annual inflation at 3.1%, at the monthly level prices on average the same
Consumer prices rose by 3.1% at the annual level, while monthly they remained on average unchanged. For the first time since May 2023, goods prices went up more than service prices year-on-year.

Consumer prices went up by 3.1 compared to October last year. In the same month last year, inflation stood at 0.0%.
In one year, goods prices increased on average by 3.3% and services prices by 2.7%. This is the first time since May 2023 that year-on-year goods prices went up more than service prices. Non-durable goods prices went up by 4.7%, durable goods prices by 0.6% and semi-durable goods prices by 0.2%.
Higher prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 6.8%) contributed 1.3 percentage point to the annual inflation rate. These were followed by higher prices in the group housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 4.2%), which contributed 0.5 p.p. Additional 0.3 p.p. was added each by 5.5% higher prices of products and services in the group health and by 4.7% higher prices in restaurants and hotels. Annual inflation was pushed up by 0.2 p.p. by 3.7% higher prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

In October, consumer prices stayed on average the same as the month before.
Among the price increases, higher prices of clothing (by 3.9%) contributed 0.2 p.p. Higher prices of furniture furnishings and floor coverings (by 1.9%), electricity, gas and other fuels (in this group prices of heat energy went up the most, by 6.3%), food (by 0.5%) and all other price increases in October contributed 0.1 p.p. each.
As regards price decreases, lower prices of package holidays (by 9.2%) contributed 0.4 p.p. The decrease in the monthly growth rate was also due to cheaper accommodation services (by 5.2%) and insurance (by 2.8%).
Harmonised indices of consumer prices
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, this October the annual growth of consumer prices was 3.1% (a year ago 0.0%). The monthly price growth stood at 0.1%.
In one year, service prices went up on average by 3.7% and goods prices by 2.8%. Non-durable goods prices went up by 4.2%, semi-durable goods prices remained on average the same and durable goods prices went down by 0.2%.
Annual inflation rates in September 2025 for all EU-27 Member States are available here. Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, in September the annual inflation rate in the EMU countries was 2.2% (the month before 2.0%). In the EU-27 Member States it was 2.6% (the month before 2.4%). The lowest annual inflation rate was recorded in Cyprus (0.0%) and the highest in Romania (8.6%); in Slovenia it stood at 2.7%.
