Total output of environmental protection services higher than in 2022
In 2023, the total output of environmental protection services was 11.8% higher and the total environmental protection expenditure 27.1% higher than in the previous year.
Total output of environmental protection services higher than a year earlier
The total output (market and non-market) of environmental protection services amounted to EUR 624.9 million, which is 11.8% more than in the previous year.
The output of environmental protection services of specialised producers amounted to EUR 253.0 million, which is 5.5% more than a year earlier. The output of ancillary producers increased by 6.2% to EUR 226.0 million and the output of the general government by 37.2% to EUR 145.9 million.
Total environmental protection expenditure also up
The total environmental protection expenditure (expenditure of general government, specialised and ancillary producers) amounted to EUR 889.0 million, which is 27.1% more than in the previous year.
Specialised producers spent EUR 92.8 million on environmental protection or 18.0% more than a year earlier. Ancillary producers spent EUR 357.7 million or 21.8% more, and the general government EUR 438.5 million or 34.0% more.
The total environmental protection expenditure in 2023 represented 1.4% of gross domestic product.
