In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Average gross earnings in nominal terms higher, in real terms slightly lower than earnings for March
Compared to earnings for March, average gross earnings for April were higher in nominal terms (by 1.0%) and lower in real terms (by 0.3%).

The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages in Slovenia the same as the EU-27 average
In purchasing power standards GDP per capita in Slovenia in 2024 was 9% lower than the EU-27 average, while actual individual consumption per capita was 15% lower. The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were lower than in Austria, Italy and Croatia.

On average two SMSs sent per day
In the first quarter of this year, fewer outgoing phone calls were made than in the same quarter last year. Year-on-year, outgoing telephone traffic as well as the number of both kinds of messages sent also decreased. On average, mobile phones were used more for sending SMSs than for calling.

Around a fifth more existing dwellings sold than the 2024 average
In the 1st quarter, dwelling prices were on average 2.0% lower than in the previous quarter and 3.2% higher than a year ago. In the SiStat Database, we are publishing revised data for 2024, as we subsequently received data from GURS on a larger number of sales of newly built dwellings.

The amount of fish caught again below the ten-year average
In 2024, 106.8 tonnes of marine animals were caught, i.e. 1% less than in the previous year. Almost 19 tonnes of gilthead seabream and 10.9 tonnes of muscat octopus were landed. The value of the landing of fishery products was 14% higher than a year before, and amounted to almost EUR 1.1 million.

More building permits issued and/but fewer dwellings planned
In May, almost a third more building permits were issued than in the previous month: for residential buildings 12% more and for non-residential buildings 55% more.

Producer prices again unchanged
For the second consecutive month, producer prices remained on average the same as in the previous month and were up by 1.0% year-on-year.

No major changes among persons employed in formal education in the 2024/25 school year
In the 2024/25 school/academic year, 13,428 professional staff were employed in kindergartens, 21,811 in primary schools, 7,808 in upper secondary schools, and 6,213 in tertiary education institutions.

Almost a third more juveniles convicted
In 2024, the number of educational measures and sentences imposed on juveniles was 28.2% higher than the year before, while the number of sentenced adults was almost 3% lower. Court proceedings were on average shorter by 5.9% than in 2023 for natural persons, and longer by 29.3% for legal persons.

More persons in employment month-on-month, the highest employment rate last year
The number of persons in employment increased by 0.1% in April, the most in accommodation and food services. Year-on-year, it increased the most in human health and social work activities, and decreased the most in manufacturing. The employment rate (15–64 years) was 70.0%, the highest ever.

21 June, Summer Museum Night 2025
In 2023, Slovenian museums and galleries prepared 836 temporary and 388 permanent exhibitions, and additionally 74 e-exhibitions for the virtual space.
