In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Number of employed persons at the annual level the highest in the last decade
In 2024, the number of employed persons increased by 0.9% over the previous year. At the annual level, the unemployment rate was 3.7% and stayed almost the same as the year before.

In 2022, roundwood production in the EU was estimated at 510 million m3. In the observed period 2014–2022, it increased the most in Czechia (62%), followed by Italy (48%) and Portugal (31%).

Construction costs for new residential buildings up
In the last quarter of 2024, construction costs for new residential buildings in Slovenia were higher than in the previous quarter and also higher than in the fourth quarter a year ago.

A tenth more new passenger cars
At the road border crossings there was more passenger traffic and less goods traffic than last January. At the airport there were fewer passengers but more goods handled. At the port, the number of passengers as well as goods handled increased.

The value of industrial production and turnover in industry increased in January over the previous month and year-on-year.

Slightly fewer births and deaths in the first month of this year
Compared to the same month of 2024, the number of live births and deaths went down by 1.5%. A natural decrease was recorded: according to provisional data, 669 more people died than were born. On average 45 children were born per day and 67 people died.

Fewer registrations and more bankruptcies than a month earlier
At the monthly level, the number of bankruptcies went up by 31.7% and the number of registrations down by 2.0%.
