Import price indices, Slovenia, June 2020
In June 2020 import prices higher by 0.4% at the monthly level and lower by 4.1% at the annual level
In June 2020, the prices of imported products grew on average for the first time this year on a monthly basis; they remain low on an annual basis, but the year-on-year decline was smaller than in May.
Import prices in June 2020 higher than in the previous month
The prices of imports increased in June on average by 0.4% after four months of decline. The prices of products supplied from the euro area were higher by 0.5% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 0.2%.
Among the groups of activities showing the dynamics of prices by end-use, in June 2020 energy prices increased by 11.3%. On the other hand, intermediate goods prices decreased by 0.7% and consumer goods prices by 0.4%, while capital goods prices remained the same.
In June 2020 import prices increased the most in the group electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (by 34.1%), followed by the group crude petroleum and natural gas products (by 9.2%). Import prices decreased the most in the group coal and lignite (by 3.5%).
Import prices in June 2020 lower than a year ago
Compared to June 2019, in June 2020 import prices decreased on average by 4.1%, but less than in the previous month, when we recorded a year-on-year decline of 5.2%. In the same period the prices of products supplied from the euro area went down by 4.3% and the prices of products imported from the non-euro area by 3.9%.
The prices of imports decreased the most in the group crude petroleum and natural gas (by 47.7%), while in the group wearing apparel they increased (by 3.7%).
