The economic sentiment indicator again up

In July 2020 the sentiment indicator was 5.6 p.p. higher at the monthly level and 24.3 p.p. lower at the annual level.

The sentiment indicator at the monthly level higher

The value of the sentiment indicator in July 2020 (at -18.0 percentage points – p.p.) increased by 5.6 p.p. compared to June 2020 (at -23.6 p.p.). The sentiment indicator is improving, but is still 18.1 p.p. below the long-term average.

The increase in the sentiment indicator at the monthly level was influenced predominantly by the confidence indicator in manufacturing (by 3.3 p.p). The confidence indicators in services and in retail trade (each by 0.7 p.p.), among consumers (by 0.6 p.p.) and in construction (by 0.2 p.p.) also had positive impacts.

The sentiment indicator at the annual level lower

In July 2020 the sentiment indicator decreased by 24.3 p.p. over July 2019.

The decrease in the sentiment indicator at the annual level was influenced predominantly by the confidence indicator in services (by 13.2 p.p.). The confidence indicators among consumers (by 5.2 p.p.), in manufacturing (by 4.6 p.p), in construction (by 0.8 p.p.) and in retail trade (by 0.5 p.p) also had negative impacts.
