More arrivals and departures of passenger ships than in 2018
In Slovenian ports in 2019, ship arrivals and departures decreased by 10.9% compared to 2018. The number of passenger ships increased by 3.1% and that of cargo ships decreased by 12.7%. In case of passenger ships their number increased by 3.1%, while in case of cargo ships it decreased by 12.7%
The number of passenger ships for the transport of passengers who arrived to in or departed from all three ports was 290, which is 15.1% more than in 2018. The number of passenger cruise ships that arrived was 178, which is 11.9% less than the year before.
Among the cargo ships that arrived to or departed from the port of Koper, most were container ships (1,243), followed by general cargo ships (1,105), liquid and dry bulk cargo ships (340; 394). and specialized ships (72).

More passengers than in the previous year
In 2019 passenger traffic in Slovenian ports was 8.1% higher than in 2018. 117,890 passengers arrived on cruise ships, which is 55.3% more than 2018. 25,658 pasengers arrived or departed on passenger and other ships, which is 6.3% more than in 2018.
Less goods handled than in 2018
In 2019, 22.1 million tonnes of goods were handled in the Port of Koper, which is 4.4% less than in 2018. 15.6 million tonnes of goods were unloaded (4.7% less than in 2018) and 6.4 million tonnes of goods were loaded (3.5% less than in 2018).
According to the type of cargo, in 2019 the most cargo was transhipped in containers (8.9 million tons or 40% of all cargo); the volume of containers handled was 820,000 TEUs. According to the TEU units, in 2019 the traffic of full loaded containers increased by 2.8% over 2018, while the traffic of empty loaded containers decreased by 32.2%.The traffic of empty unloaded containers increased by 125.6%, while that of full unloaded containers decreased by 8.8%.
