The indicator “Share of rail activity in total freight transport” is defined as the percentage of each mode of transport in total inland transport.
Break in time series in 2005 due to recalculation of road freight transport from residence to territory principle. From 2005 onwards the transport on national territory is taken into account, regardless of the nationality of the haulier.

The indicator “Share of rail activity in total freight transport” is defined as the percentage of each mode of transport in total inland transport, which includes road and rail freight transport.
The indicator can also be used to complement the monitoring of goal 11.
