Welcome to the Slovenian Presidency Website on Statistics
For the Slovenian Statistical Office the challenge of presidency is that much greater because it is taking over the presidency of this Council Working Party at the time of creating the new legislative framework for the European Statistical System. The purpose of the umbrella statistical regulation is to establish a strong statistical system that will strengthen the independence of statistics, enable exchange of confidential data for statistical purposes and in this way improve statistics at EU level and establish relationships between ECB statistics and the European Statistical System.
Presiding over this working party the Slovenian Statistical Office will strive to develop such regulations that will help improve the quality of European statistics and contribute to the reduction of burdens of reporting units providing data to statistical institutions.
Slovenian presidency of the Council Working Party on Statistics will seek consensus solutions appropriate for all member states, so the Presidency Team is looking forward to constructive cooperation with all member states, with the European Commission and the European Parliament. On these web pages all the necessary information regarding the activity of the Council Working Party on Statistics will be published as well as basic information for the general public.
