  In 2009, 49 museums, 29 museum collections, 4 special  museums for art heritage, 55 exhibition grounds and galleries, and 33 other types of museums and exhibitions grounds were visited by 2.6 million people, about a third of them foreigners.

  In 2009, 6,139 titles of books and brochures were published in Slovenia, most of them novels (37%). Compared to 2005, book prices increased by 4.3% and newspaper prices by 27.8%.

  At the 2002 population census, Slovene was spoken as the mother tongue by 87.8% of people living in Slovenia, while the languages of national minorities – Hungarian and Italian – were spoken by 0.2% of the population, the same as Romany.

  In Slovenia, twice as many titles of books were published in 2007 (5,129) than in 1991 (2,459). Most of the original literary works published in 2007 were devoted to poetry (152 or more than 29% of all literary works, excluding poetry for children and youth).
