This series has been published since 1945; first as Statistical Material (until 1975). Between 1952 and 1954 this series included volumes entitled Internal Publications, between 1955 and 1958 and between 1960 and 1962 volumes entitled Statistical Documentation, and between 1963 and 1965 volumes entitled Statistical Report. It has been published under the present title since 1976.
Publications in this series are numbered with consecutive numbers, irrespective of the year of publication. So far nearly 800 volumes have been published. The series comprehensively and in detail shows the results of individual statistical surveys or groups of related statistical surveys. Of all statistical publications this series offers the most comprehensive source of information on individual fields of statistics. Volumes of individual fields of statistics are usually published annually; some are published occasionally.
Each publication contains a detailed tabular review of results of statistical surveys, often with long time series of important data, methodological explanations describing definitions, standards and methods of implementing the surveys and usually also a comment . The contents of some issues is also published on the Internet. |
