Employer business demography, Slovenia, 2009 - final data

In 2009 there were 6,169 employer enterprise births and 5,702[1] employer enterprise deaths in activities B-S of the Slovene Statistical Classification of Activities.
As regards employer enterprise births and deaths, enterprises in construction (26%) and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (17%) prevailed In 2009, 43% of employer enterprise births and deaths were recorded in the following activities: constructions, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, whereas the former employed 9,154 employees and the latter 10,004 employees. According to their legal form, among employer enterprise births legal persons prevailed (57%) over natural persons (43%). Among employer enterprise deaths natural persons prevailed (64%) over legal persons (36%). Around 90% of enterprises among those newly born in 2008 survived to 2009 as didaround 56% of enterprises among those newly born in 2004 Around 90% of enterprises in activities B-S that were established in 2008 survived to 2009, i.e. still operated in 2009. The share of enterprises which were established a year before, i.e. in 2007, and survived to 2009 was by 12.6% lower than the share of those established in 2008. The share of enterprises that were established in 2004 and survived to 2009 was 56%. As regards activities, the highest share of enterprises that were established in 2008 and still operated in 2009 was registered in mining and quarrying (100%). The highest share of enterprises that were established in 2007 and still operated in 2009 was registered in human health and social work activities (91.4%). Among the enterprises which were established in 2006 and still operated in 2009, the highest share was registered in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (88.9%). Among the enterprises which were established in 2004 and 2005 and still operated in 2009, their highest share was registered in mining and quarrying (100%). Almost one third of women in employer enterprise births[2] Almost one third (32 %) of entrepreneurs in employer enterprise births were women. Women prevailed in three activities: other service activities with 76%, human health and social work activities with 57 % and professional, scientific and technical activities with 54%. The size classes by employees revealed the largest differences by sex in the employer enterprise births with 5 and more employees (86 % of men and 14% of women entrepreneurs).
