Detailed data on population of Slovenia with commentary as of 30 June 2009 are published in the Rapid Reports.
In mid-2009 Slovenia had a population of 2,042,335, which is 9,973 or 0.5% more than at the end of 2008. The share of foreign citizens among the population grew by 0.4 of percentage point and reached 3.9%.
Since the end of 2008 the number of population has grown in most municipalities, while the largest relative decrease was registered in municipalities Ruše and Preddvor (by 1.1% in each).
The mean age of the population of Slovenia was 41.4 years in mid-2009 or 0.1 of a year more than at the end of 2008. The same as at the end of 2008, the ageing index was the highest in municipality Osilnica (309.1) and the lowest in municipality Benedikt (65.1).
