Last year fishermen caught/landed about 686 tons of fish products, which is 25% less than 2007 and the least since 1992.
In 2008 lower income as a result of smaller landing According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, in 2008 Slovene fishermen landed in the Slovene ports about 686 tons of fresh fish products. Compared to the landings in 2007 the total mass of all marine animals landed in 2008 in the Slovene ports was smaller by 25%. Landing of fresh fish decreased by 22%, while landing of cephalopods was down by 57%. Considering the purchase prices of products, we estimate that the value of fish products landed in 2008 amounted to about EUR 1,397,000 (24% less than in 2007). Trends in marine fishing are not good In recent years trends in marine fishing have not been good. Last year’s catch/landing was 53% lower than in 2002 and 81% lower than in 1992. Methodological note Because the caught marine animals are not processed on the Slovene fishing vessels (they are not eviscerated, filleted, iced, etc.), the data on landing are at the same time the data on marine fishing. Data on landing of the Slovene fish vessels in the ports of the other EU countries are not covered. Additional acquired data will be included in the final data on the catch statistics.
