Between 1991 and 2007 book production in Slovenia more than doubled In 1991, when Slovenia won independence, 2,459 titles of books were published, while in 2007 5,129 titles were published, which is more than twice as many. In 1991, 422 titles of literary works were published and in 2007 1,038.
Of the total of 1,038 titles of literary works published in 2007, 523 were titles of Slovenian literature and 515 were titles of foreign literature. Among all works of literature (Slovenian and foreign) novels predominated with 39.1% (406 titles), followed by poetry with 17.3% (180 titles, excluding poetry for children and youth), while as regards Slovenian authors poetry predominated with 29.1% (152 titles, excluding poetry for children and youth), followed by novels with just over 20% (105 titles).
Radio stations mostly play music In 2007 there were 82 radio programs in Slovenia; 43 radio programs of special importance and 39 radio programs without any special status. Special importance programs are public programs (11%), local programs (around 50%), regional programs (a third of special importance programs) and non-profit programs (3 programs).
According to our data, in 2007 nearly 515,000 hours of radio program were broadcast. Radio stations offered 344,000 hours of music program and close to 96,000 hours of speech broadcasts.
Music also dominates on television screens Television broadcasters which reported in 2007 broadcast 151,000 hours of television program: most of the air time was devoted to music (31.7%), followed by fiction, which was represented by 26,000 hours or 17.6% of the television program, news program with 11.8%, and sport with 10.9%.
A third of Slovenian films produced in 2007 are documentaries According to film producers’ data, in 2007 12 films were produced and shown in cinemas for the first time, of which 7 feature films, 4 documentaries and 1 animated film.
In 2007 there were 2,998 TV audiovisual works, i.e. films, documentaries, cartoons, etc., of which almost a quarter ordered production. 2,828 TV audiovisual works were own production.
Film producers were involved with domestic co-producers in 99 works (over 3%) and with foreign co-producers in 71 works (over 2%).
Film distributors distributed 45 audiovisual works in 2007, of which 41 new and 4 old.
