Road goods transport, Slovenia, 3rd quarter 2008

In the 3rd quarter of 2008 road goods vehicles registered in Slovenia carried 22.7 million tons of goods and performed almost 3,900 million tonne-kilometers.

Compared with the 3rd quarter of 2007, in the 3rd quarter of 2008 road goods vehicles registered in Slovenia carried just over 10% less goods and performed almost 8% more tonne-kilometers and 9% more vehicle kilometers.

Transport for hire or reward accounted for almost 66% of all goods carried and 90% of tonne-kilometers performed, while transport for own account accounted for 34% of all goods carried and just over 9% of tonne-kilometers performed.

Legal persons carried 55% of all goods and performed just over 57% of all tonne-kilometers; natural persons carried 45% of all goods and performed 42% of all tonne-kilometers.

Just over 19% of all goods were carried in international transport and over 80% in national transport. The relations expressed in tonne-kilometers are completely different because of longer distances in international transport. Thus only 17% of all tonne-kilometers were performed in national transport, while 26% were performed in transport of goods from Slovenia, 25% in transport of goods into Slovenia and almost 31% in transport between foreign places.
