Purchasing power parities and gross domestic product in purchasing power standards, 2005-2007

Gross domestic product (GDP) per capita in purchasing power standards (PPS) in Slovenia amounted to 89% of that in EU-27 in 2007.
Eurostat data Eurostat published the volume indices of gross domestic product per capita in purchasing power parities (GDP in PPS) in “News Release” 176/2008 and in “Statistics in Focus”, 112/2008 on 11 December 2008. The releases covered the 2005-2007 period and 37 countries. The published results are based on revised purchasing power parities (PPP) for the mentioned years and the latest GDP figures in national currencies and population figures.
In 2007 the Slovenian GDP per capita in PPS was 11% below the EU-27 average GDP per capita in PPS in Slovenia amounted to 87% of the EU-27 average in 2005, 88% in 2006 and 89% in 2007. In 2007, close to Slovenia by GDP per capita in PPS were Cyprus (91% of the EU-27 average), Greece (95%), the Czech Republic (80%) and Malta (77%) and Portugal (76%).
With relatively higher GDP per capita also price level compared to EU-27 increases Purchasing Power Parity (conversion factor of GDP in national currency to SKM) was for 2007 for Slovenia estimated to 0.768 euro/1 PPS. The general price level in Slovenia compared to the EU-27 average price level thus amounted to 77% of the EU-27 average.
In 2005 the general price level in Slovenia amounted to 73% and in 2006 to 75% of the general price level in EU-27.
