Material Flow Accounts – DMI and DMC Indicators, Slovenia, 2000–2006
Thursday, December 18, 2008, First Release
As regards the values in 2006 in comparison to 2005 the Direct Material Indicator (DMI) increased by 14.6%, the Domestic Material Consumption Indicator (DMC) by 14.7% and the Physical Trade Balance Indicator (PTB) by 22.9%.
The Direct Material Indicator (DMI) increased
In 2006 the value of DMI comprised 66.6% of domestic extraction (DE) and 33.3% of total material import. The value of DMI increased by 14.6% over 2005, due to the increases in the production of the biomass, extraction of minerals and total material import. Total material import increased by 17.5%. In the period 2000-2006 the value of DMI increased by 30.4%, reaching its highest value of 55.433.924 tonnes in 2006. The value of DMI/capita kept growing in the period 2000-2006 and reached its highest value (27.6 tonnes/capita) in 2006. The Domestic Material Consumption Indicator (DMC) increased
The value of DMC is calculated by taking the value of DMI plus total material import, minus total material export. In 2006 the value of DMC increased by 14.7% over 2005 due to an increase of production of the biomass and extraction of minerals; an increase happend also in total material export by 14.3%. In the period 2000-2006 the value of DMC in 2006 increased by 26.9% over 2000 and its highest value was recorded in 2006 (44.160.811 tonnes). The value of DMC/capita mostly kept increasing in the period 2000–2006 and it reached its peak value (21.9 tonnes/capita) in 2006. The Physical Trade Balance Indicator (PTB) increased
The value of PTB is calculated by taking the value of total material import minus total material export. In 2006 the value of PTB increaced by 22.9% over 2005 due to increase of total material imports than total material exports. In the period 2000-2006 the value of PTB in 2006 increased by 73% over 2000 and its highest value was recorded in 2004 (7.342.585 tonnes). The value of PTB/capita kept increasing till 2004 and than after decreasing in 2006 increased again to almost the same value as it was in 2004. That is 3.6 tonnes/capita (2006).
