Construction works abroad, Slovenia, 1st half 2008

In comparison with the second half of 2007, in the first half of 2008 the value of construction put in place abroad by Slovenian construction companies decreased by more than 23%.

Value of construction put in place abroad in the first half of 2008 decreased over the second half of 2007 by more than 23%

As in the past few years, most of construction put in place abroad by Slovenian construction companies was done in countries of former Yugoslavia and in the Russian Federation – more than 62% of the total value of construction put in place abroad. In EU member states more than 24% of all construction work was done while in other non-European countries 13% of all construction work was done.

In comparison with the first half of 2007, the value of construction put in place increased by 38%; as regards buildings the value decreased by 11%, while as regards civil engineering it increased by 134.8%.

Value of designing and engineering services in the first half of 2008 decreased over the previous half-year by more than 22%

The value was down compared to the second half of 2007 (by 22.3%) as well as in comparison with the first half of 2007 (by 43.8%). Most of designing and engineering services were performed in EU member states (more than 55% of the total value of construction put in place), while in other EU countries more than 34% of the total value was achieved.

Value of the new contracts for construction increased in the first half of 2008 over the previous half-year

Compared to the previous half-year, the value of new contracts for construction put in place in the first half of 2008 increased by more than 37%; most of the new contracts (almost 82%) were signed in the Russian Federation, Serbia, Albania and Libya. In the same comparison the value of contracts for designing and engineering decreased by 31%.
