The majority of enterprises are individual private entrepreneurs and limited liability companies
There were 105,272 enterprises registered in sections of activities C-K (NACE Rev. 1.1) in 2007, which is 4.7% more than in the previous year. The most frequent organisational forms were individual private entrepreneur (58.1%) and limited liability company (35.9%), representing 94% of all enterprises.

The largest increase in enterprises was recorded among other natural persons (9.3%), limited liability companies and institutions (each 6.9%), while somewhat lower increase was recorded among individual private entrepreneurs (3.9%). On the other hand, the largest decrease was recorded among general partnership (7.8%), co-operative societies (6.1%) and limited partnership (4.7%).

The majority of enterprises engaged in real estate, renting and business services
In 2007, the greatest share of enterprises dealt in real estate, renting and business services (24.4%), wholesale, retail and certain repair (22.4%), construction (17.5%) and manufacturing (17.3%). The smallest shares of enterprises were observed in mining and quarrying (0.1%), electricity, gas and water supply (0.4%) and financial intermediation (1.4%).

In real estate, renting and business services and in construction the number of enterprises has increased during the last five years, while in wholesale, retail and certain repair, in transport, storage and communications and in manufacturing the downward tendency was perceived.

Enterprises organised as legal persons employ the largest number of persons employed and generate most of the turnover
In 2007, enterprises organised as legal persons employed four fifths of all persons employed and generated 92.8% of total turnover. Most persons were employed in manufacturing (37.0%) and considerably less in wholesale, retail and certain repair (17.7%), real estate, renting and business services (12.6%) and construction (12.5%). Activities which generated the highest turnover were wholesale, retail and certain repair (33.6%) and manufacturing (32.5%).

In 2007 the number of enterprises continued to grow
From one year to the next, the number of enterprises has been increasing, although somewhat lower increase (4.7%) was perceived in 2007 than in the previous year (5.4%). Thus the largest increase in 2007 was perceived in enterprises registered in Obalno-kraška (6.1%), Gorenjska (5.9%) and Osrednjeslovenska regions (5.7%), and the smallest in Spodnjeposavska (1.7%), Jugovzhodna Slovenia (2.0%) and Zasavska regions (2.5%).
