In Slovenia 4% more waste from production and service activities was generated in 2007 than in the previous year. In comparison with 2006 also the total amounts of recovered and disposed waste were significantly greater.

More waste generated and internally treated
In 2007, 6,133,550 tonnes of waste was generated by production and service activities. In comparison with 2006 the amount of waste increased by 4%. The greatest share in the total amount of waste was generated by manufacturing (32%), followed by construction (28%) and by electricity, gas and water supply (25%). The rest (15%) was generated by other activities. In 2007, 48% of waste was either internally recovered or internally disposed (26% more than in 2006), 48% of waste was delivered to others for recovery or disposal (11% less than in 2006) and the rest was temporarily stored (3% of all waste) or exported (1% of all waste).

Quantity of hazardous waste generated nearly the same, quantity of export greater
In 2007, 97,680 tonnes of hazardous waste was generated, which is only 0.4% more than in 2006. Of the total amount of hazardous waste generated, together with the stored hazardous waste from the previous year, 72,373 tonnes (70%) was delivered to others for recovery or disposal (8% more than in 2006) and 9,782 tonnes (10%) was exported abroad (57% more than in 2006).The rest of the hazardous waste, 21,082 tonnes (20%), was internally recovered or disposed or temporarily stored by the individual business entities themselves (26% less than in 2006).

More waste recovered and more waste disposed
In 2007, 4,262,384 tonnes of waste was recovered, which is a 20% increase compared to 2006, while 2,859,882 tonnes of waste was disposed, which is 51% more than in 2006. 1,749,767 tonnes of waste was internally recovered (10% more than in 2006) and 1,246,382 tonnes of waste was internally disposed (58% more than in 2006). During 2007 the amount of waste exported amounted to 263,032 tonnes or 19% less than in 2006.
