Public waste removal and municipal landfill sites, Slovenia, 2007

The average amount of municipal waste in Slovenia in 2007 was 439 kg per capita, which means 1.2 kg of municipal waste per capita per day.
More municipal waste generated
In 2007, 885,595 tons of municipal waste was generated in Slovenia, of which 1,907 tons of hazardous municipal waste. Compared to 2006, the amount of municipal waste increased by 2.3% while the amount of hazardous municipal waste was up by 99%.
Increase in the amount of waste collected by public waste removal services
In 2006, public waste removal services collected 1.8% more municipal waste than a year before. They mostly collected other municipal wastes (84.7%), 7.5% were separately collected fractions, 3.6% were wastes from garden and park and 4.2% was packaging waste including separately collected municipal packaging waste.
Decrease in the amount of waste landfilled on the municipal landfill sites
In 2007, Slovenia landfilled 341 kg of municipal waste per capita and 402 kg of all wastes per capita. The majority of landfilled waste was landfilled on the municipal landfill sites (78.1%), 21.2% of waste was landfilled on the industrial landfill sites and only 0.7% of waste was landfilled on the hazardous landfill sites. In 2007, the amount of waste landfilled on the municipal landfill sites decreased by 3.4%, while the amount of municipal waste landfilled on the municipal landfill sites was down by 5%.
