Construction of buildings Slovenia, 2007

In 2007, almost 6,000 buildings were completed in Slovenia, which is almost the same as in 2006. In this way 3.4 million square metres of new floor area were obtained, which is a 23% growth over 2006.

Almost 6,000 buildings completed in 2007
Last year just under 6,000 residential and non-residential buildings were completed in Slovenia. The total floor area of these buildings is over 3.4 million square metres or 23% more than the total floor area of buildings built in 2006. Completed residential and non-residential buildings each represented about 44% : 56% of all completed buildings’ floor area. Compared to 2006, an increase in the floor area was recorded both in residential (by 14%) and non-residential (32%) builings. As regards floor area, most dwellings (53%) were completed in one-dwelling buildings, while over 40% were built in two- or more-dwelling buildings. In non-residential buildings over half of the floor area was intended for industrial (32%) and trade (23%) activities.

Shares of natural and legal persons in new investment about the same
In 2007, natural persons completed over 4,500 buildings with 1.3 million square metres of floor area, while legal persons completed almost 1,400 buildings with the total floor area of 2.2 million square metres. As expected, natural persons invested mostly in residential buildings (74% of floor area), of which mostly in one-dwelling buildings (79% of floor area). On the other hand, legal persons invested mostly in non-residential buildings (73% of floor area), of which mostly in buildings for industrial activities (33% of floor area).
