In 2006, households spent 15.5% of their assets on transport, so that once again transport expenditure exceeded expenditure on food and non-alcoholic beverages (15.4%).
Available assets of households
In 2006, the largest share of available assets was that of available money assets (95.3%), followed by the value of own production (2.6%) and benefits in kind (2.1%). The largest share among available money assets was that of income from work under employment (54.8%) and pensions with supplements (22.7%). The situation was similar in 2005 (53.4% and 23.0%, respectively).
Allocated assets of households
Allocated assets are divided into consumption expenditure (85.4% in 2006), expenditure for a dwelling or a house (10.4% in 2006) and other expenditure (4.1% in 2006). Consumption expenditure is further divided into 12 groups. Usually, the largest share in this group is that of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which in 2006 represented 15.4% of allocated assets (15.9% in 2005).
However, in 2006 the largest share was that of transport with 15.5% (16.2% in 2005), which included purchase of vehicles (7.8%), expenditure on operation of personal transport equipment (7.1%) and expenditure on passenger transport by railway, road, air, sea and inland waterways (0.6%).
Within allocated assets the greatest increase compared to 2005 was recorded in expenditure for a dwelling or a house (from 9.2% in 2005 to 10.4% in 2006). This expenditure includes purchase of a dwelling or a house, major works and renovation such as repair of roof, building, façade, bathroom, construction of additional spaces, installation of central heating, electricity, water, gas and all major outdoor work. Methodological note Data of the 2005–2007 Household Budget Survey are calculated to the middle year (2006), which is used as the reference year.
Data access More detailed data and time series are available
at the SI-STAT data portal, which enables simple browsing and exporting of data
