Irrigation of agricultural area, Slovenia, 2007

In 2007, 4,196 hectares of agricultural area were irrigated, which is 47.9% more than in 2006.
In 2007, 4,196 hectares of agricultural area were irrigated; 91% were irrigated by sprinkling and 9% were irrigated drop by drop. As much as 83% of irrigated agricultural area belonged to arable land and gardens, whereas 15% belonged to orchards and 2% belonged to other.
4.6 million m3 of water were used for irrigation, most of it, 84.3%, from accumulations, 11.9% from running waters, 3.4% from ground water and 0.4% from other sources.

Methodological note Data on irrigation are transmitted by managers of irrigation systems. Since 2007 natural persons that obtained a water permit for direct use of water for irrigating agricultural land or other areas have also been covered by the survey.

at the SI-STAT data portal, which enables simple browsing and exporting of data
into various formats. Registered users have the possibility to store tables for
later browsing and to sign up to be informed when data are updated
