Marine fishing, Slovenia, 2007

Annual data on marine fishing in 2007 (catch and landing statistics) are published in the SI-STAT database.
The total mass of fish products landed in 2007 did not reach the landing from 2006 According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, in 2007 Slovene fishermen landed in the Slovene ports about 914 tons of fresh fish products. Compared to the landings from 2006 the total mass of all marine animals landed in 2007 in the Slovene ports was smaller by 2%. Pelagic fishes predominated; their share reached 86% of total landing. Considering the purchase prices of products, we estimate that the value of fish products landed in 2007 amounted to about EUR 1,847,000. Compared to 2006 the landing of fresh fishes decreased by 6% while the landing of other fish products increased: of fresh cephalopods by 44% and of fresh crustaceans, shells and snails by 225%. The last percentage confirms our assumption from the previous year that the data on the shells and snails landed in 2006 were not complete. Methodological note Because the caught marine animals are not processed on the Slovene fishing vessels (they are not eviscerated, filleted, iced, etc.), the data on landing are at the same time the data on marine fishing. Data on landing of the Slovene fish vessels in the ports of the other EU countries are not covered. Additional acquired data will be included in the data on the catch statistics.

at the SI-STAT data portal, which enables simple browsing and exporting of data
into various formats. Registered users have the possibility to store tables for
later browsing and to sign up to be informed when data are updated
