Marine fishing – persons in employment, fishing vessels and gear, Slovenia, 2007

In 2007, 147 persons in employment were engaged in the activities of marine fishing or 1.3% less than in 2006.
Persons in employment in marine fishing The annual labour input of all persons in employment in these activities (marine fishing and mariculture) reached 110 annual work units, which is almost the same as in 2006. The differences are shown in the particular calculations. The annual labour input in marine fishing continues to decrease, while in mariculture it continues to increase.
Fishing vessels and gear According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, in 2007 the fishing fleet had 180 registered fishing vessels (new changes of vessels classification). As regards the registered main fishing gear on fishing vessels, in 2007 the vessels with gillnets dominated (81.9%). Facilities for mariculture Compared to 2006 the facilities for fish farming and the areas for shell farming remained nearly unchanged. The number of business entities engaged in this activity decreased, which indicates that these facilities have been concentrating among a smaller number of businessmen. 1.
