In 2006, exhibitions in 177 museums, museum collections, exhibition grounds and galleries that transmitted data on their activity were attended by 2,340,558 visitors.
In 2006, 17.2% more exhibition grounds than in 2005 In 2006, of the 177 museums, museum collections, exhibition grounds and galleries that transmitted data on their activity 46 were museums (26% of all museums and exhibition organizations), 28 were museum collections (15.8%), 3 were special museums for art heritage (1.7%), 64 were exhibitions grounds and galleries (36.2%) and the rest (20.3%) were other types of museums and exhibition grounds. Compared to 2005 the number of visitors and the number of temporary exhibitions of museums, museums collections, exhibition grounds and galleries increased, while the number of permanent exhibitions decreased In 2006, 407 permanent exhibitions, 1,477 temporary exhibitions and around 2.3 million visitors were registered. The number of permanent exhibitions in comparison with 2005 decreased by 10.7%, while the number of temporary exhibitions increased by 9.2% and the number of visitors by 2.5%. In comparison with the year before, in 2006 the number of sold and purchased works and objects increased In 2006, organisations dealing with museum and exhibition activity purchased 13,988 works and objects and sold 685 works and objects.
