Population, Slovenia, 30 June 2007

In mid-2007 there were 2,019,406 people living in the Republic of Slovenia, 1,024,281 women and 995,125 men.

In the second quarter of 2007 the population of Slovenia rose by 5,809 or 0.3%. Most of the increase (5,683 people or 97.8%) was on account of foreigners with registered residence in the Republic of Slovenia, meaning that the number of citizens of the Republic of Slovenia, excluding citizens temporarily residing abroad, rose by 126 persons.

The number of foreigners with temporary residence grew the most

In the second quarter of 2007 the number of persons rose in all population groups. The number of foreigners with registered temporary residence in the Republic of Slovenia grew the most, by more than a fifth (21.5%). Their number increased mostly on account of men; while the number of women grew by 360, the number of men increased by 5,077. At the end of June 2007 there were 30,721 foreigners with registered temporary residence in Slovenia, 24,699 men and 6,022 women.

3.1% of the population of Slovenia were foreigners, of whom almost three quarters were men

At the end of June 2007 there were 62,722 foreigners with registered residence in Slovenia (3.1% of total population), of whom almost three quarters (74.0%) were men. Since mid-2006 the number of men among foreigners has grown by 8,287 and the number of women by 1,166.
